Job Description
The Farm Hand will support daily poultry farm operations by assisting with feeding, watering, cleaning, egg handling, bird observation, movement of farm materials, and general farm maintenance. The role requires a hardworking, physically fit, reliable, and disciplined individual who can follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Support the daily feeding and watering of birds as directed by the Farm Manager or supervisor.
2. Assist in cleaning poultry houses, cages, walkways, tools, and other assigned farm areas.
3. Follow hygiene, sanitation, and biosecurity rules at all times to prevent disease outbreaks and contamination.
4. Observe birds regularly and report signs of sickness, abnormal behaviour, injuries, mortality, or other concerns.
5. Assist with egg collection, sorting, handling, and movement where assigned.
6. Support the loading, offloading, and movement of feed, crates, farm materials, tools, and supplies.
7. Help maintain orderliness and cleanliness within the farm environment.
8. Assist in routine farm maintenance activities under the guidance of supervisors.
9. Follow instructions from the Farm Manager, supervisors, and authorised farm personnel.
10. Work cooperatively with other farm workers to complete daily tasks efficiently.
11. Support basic record keeping by providing accurate information on assigned tasks where required.
12. Handle farm tools, materials, birds, eggs, and equipment carefully to prevent damage or loss.
13. Report equipment faults, hazards, or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
14. Maintain punctuality, discipline, honesty, and reliability in all assigned duties.
15. Perform any other farm-related duties assigned by the Farm Manager or management.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Minimum SHS graduates are preferred.
2. Basic literacy and numeracy skills are required for simple record keeping.
3. Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience in farm work, poultry operations, livestock care, warehouse work, or a similar physically demanding role.
4. Ability to follow instructions carefully.
5. Ability to work effectively in a team.
6. Physically fit for farm work, including lifting, walking, cleaning, and standing for long periods.
7. Good observation skills to identify sick birds or abnormalities.
8. Respect for hygiene and biosecurity rules.
9. Punctuality and reliability.
10. Honesty and discipline.
11. Willingness to work within a farm environment.
12. Careful handling of farm materials, eggs, birds, tools, and equipment.
