FARM MANAGER

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.  Manage the daily operations of the poultry farm in line with company standards and production targets.
2.  Oversee flock management activities, including feeding, watering, vaccination, health checks, and monitoring of production cycles.
3.  Supervise broiler or layer production activities and ensure birds are managed according to accepted poultry husbandry practices.
4.  Assign daily tasks to farm personnel and monitor performance to ensure work is completed effectively and on time.
5.  Ensure strict adherence to cleanliness, sanitation, hygiene, and biosecurity protocols across all poultry houses and farm areas.
6.  Monitor bird health and report signs of disease, abnormal behaviour, mortality, or production decline for prompt action.
7.  Coordinate vaccination schedules, medication, and other animal health interventions in collaboration with veterinary or technical support where required.
8.  Oversee the maintenance and repair of farm infrastructure, poultry houses, automated cage systems, tools, and equipment.
9.  Keep accurate records of feed usage, flock health, production output, mortality, expenses, inventory, and other operational activities.
10.  Prepare regular farm reports on production performance, operational challenges, cost trends, and recommended improvements.
11.  Develop and manage the farm operational budget in collaboration with management.
12.  Monitor farm costs and recommend practical ways to optimise feed, labour, utilities, medication, and other farm resources.
13.  Ensure proper inventory control for feed, medication, tools, equipment, packaging materials, and other farm supplies.
14.  Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, company policies, and accepted animal husbandry practices.
15.  Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing productivity, reducing losses, and improving farm profitability.
16.  Manage specialised tasks and administrative directives from the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager to ensure smooth farm operations.
17.  Promote discipline, teamwork, punctuality, and accountability among farm workers.
18.⁠ ⁠Ensure that all farm activities support the company’s standards for efficient, sustainable, and profitable poultry production.

REQUIREMENTS
 1.⁠ ⁠Diploma, HND, or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Poultry Science, Veterinary Science, or a related field.
 2.⁠ ⁠Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience in poultry farm management or a related agricultural production role.
 3.⁠ ⁠Experience managing a commercial poultry farm, especially layer production, will be an added advantage.
 4.⁠ ⁠Experience with automated cage systems will be an advantage.
 5.⁠ ⁠Strong knowledge of poultry production and flock management.
 6.⁠ ⁠Good understanding of animal health, vaccination, feeding, sanitation, and biosecurity protocols.
 7.⁠ ⁠Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
 8.⁠ ⁠Good planning, organisation, and problem-solving abilities.
 9.⁠ ⁠Ability to manage farm workers and enforce discipline.
10.⁠ ⁠Good record-keeping and reporting skills.
11.⁠ ⁠Basic budgeting and cost-control skills.
12.⁠ ⁠Ability to monitor production performance and recommend improvements.
13.⁠ ⁠Practical knowledge of farm equipment and basic maintenance coordination.
14.⁠ ⁠Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and integrity.
15.⁠ ⁠Ability to work long hours and live within or near the farm environment.
